The FBM KLCI index lost 3.21 points or 0.20% on Thursday. The Finance Index fell 0.17% to 15423.09 points, the Properties Index dropped 0.28% to 784.91 points and the Plantation Index down 0.57% to 6786.12 points. The market traded within a range of 6.52 points between an intra-day high of 1599.17 and a low of 1592.65 during the session.

Actively traded stocks include ARMADA, MNC-PA, SAPNRG, KNM, GPACKET-WB, HSI-C7J, HSI-C7F, VSOLAR, NETX and KOMARK. Trading volume increased to 2284.85 mil shares worth RM1496.52 mil as compared to Wednesday’s 1981.54 mil shares worth RM1602.37 mil.

Leading Movers were MAXIS (+5 sen to RM5.70), PMETAL (+3 sen to RM4.93), CIMB (+3 sen to RM5.04), AMMB (+2 sen to RM4.13) and PETGAS (+8 sen to RM16.54). Lagging Movers were IHH (-10 sen to RM5.65), GENM (-4 sen to RM3.06), SIME (-3 sen to RM2.31), SIMEPLT (-6 sen to RM4.84) and HLFG (-16 sen to RM16.26). Market breadth was negative with 362 gainers as compared to 464 losers.

The KLCI closed lower at 1596.28 points amid overnight mixed performance in US market. The performance of our local bourse was bogged down by high selling interest in heavy weight counters led by IHH Healthcare.
